Cranio-Sacral Therapy

Cranio-sacral therapy was developed by osteopaths over 100 years ago. The bones in the skull allow for very slight movement and any restriction of this movement, due to injury or disease, can have a negative affect on your health. Cranio-sacral therapists work gently with the body and the bones of the skull to help alleviate a whole range of chronic conditions. It is so gentle that it is often appropriate when other therapies are not, such as during pregnancy and after surgery or injury. It works especially well with children, even small babies, and I have had particular success in this area.

My training is grounded in the work of William Sutherland, exploring the fundamental concepts of an underlying vitality - expressed as the Breath of Life - which creates and maintains our health and well being, and which is expressed through the fluids, membranes, bones and other tissues of the body.  It incorporates the subsequent concepts of Rollin Becker, James Jealous and John Upledger.

Our Cranio Sacral therapists first try to identify the problem by evaluating the bones in the skull as well as the spinal cord. They perform the therapy through very gentle and soft movements of their hands on the sacrum which regulates the cerebro-spinal fluid in the brain. Eventually, the bones in the skull are tuned and the complications begin to fade away.
